While their opponents' problems are increasing, Eric Vigouroux and Alexandre Winocq, on the Chevrolet Trophy Truck, are continuously moving ahead in the general classification. At the end of the fifth stage, which is considered as one of the most difficult stages, they went on to attain second place in general classification after Argentine Terranova's BMW X3 CC but ahead of buggys of team Schlesser and the proto Nissan-Dessoude of Christian Lavieille.
« We have completed an excellent special and crossed all the dunes without any problem. We lost just a couple of minutes, 40 km before finish, when we ended up in front of a tree at the exit of a narrow sanded-up turn. This was a small error caused due to lack of attention but nothing serious. What is important is that from now on we have to maintain our position in the general and we are quite satisfied with our present position. » explained Eric.
The stage of this Tuesday, 29 April was considered as a stage of «limited assistance».
There was only one hour to refurbish the car before placing it in the closed parking lot. Luckily, the Trophy Truck did not have any problems and the mechanics just changed the spider of the gear shafts as a precaution. And in the evening, the crew met alone at bivouac before next day's stage that was 502 km long because the mechanics had already left to meet them at the next camp that was 922 km away. For them, too, the route of this Tunisia rally is long. But the good performances of Trophy Truck have galvanized the whole Pro-System Racing team.
